Business Tax Preparation
for Small Businesses
Business tax preparation is the annual filing of federal and state income tax returns for an incorporated or self-employed business entity. A Federally authorized Enrolled Agent prepares and signs your business return with the same legal standing as a tax attorney — and can represent the business before the IRS if the return is ever questioned.

What Does Business Tax Return Preparation Include?
Business tax preparation includes the federal return for your entity type — Form 1120-S for S-Corps, Form 1065 for partnerships, Schedule C for sole proprietors, or Form 1120 for C-Corps — plus all required schedules, depreciation schedules, state returns, and K-1s for each owner or partner.
At Simple Books Now, business tax preparation is not a standalone service disconnected from your books. Because Luisa handles both, your year-end return is built from a year of clean, reconciled records — no scramble, no reconstructing transactions from bank statements, no gaps between what your books say and what was filed.
The return includes a full review of deductible expenses, depreciation elections, retirement contribution planning, estimated tax payments for the coming year, and a plain-English debrief on what you owe and why.
Which Return Does Your Business File?
- Sole Proprietor / Single-Member LLC — Schedule C filed with your personal Form 1040
- Partnership / Multi-Member LLC — Form 1065 partnership return + K-1 for each partner
- S-Corporation — Form 1120-S + K-1 for each shareholder
- C-Corporation — Form 1120 corporate return at 21% flat rate
- Florida state return — included for applicable entities (C-Corps file Florida Form F-1120)
- Personal return coordination — business income flows through to your personal 1040 for pass-through entities
What Does a Business Tax Return Engagement Deliver?
Entity Return Preparation
Federal and state returns prepared from your reconciled books — Form 1120-S, 1065, Schedule C, or 1120 depending on your entity, with all required schedules and elections.
Depreciation Schedules
Section 179 elections, bonus depreciation, MACRS schedules for equipment and vehicles — every asset tracked and depreciated correctly for maximum current-year deductions.
K-1 Preparation for Owners
Schedule K-1 prepared for every partner or S-Corp shareholder, showing each owner's share of income, deductions, and credits for their personal return.
Deduction Review
Full review of all deductible business expenses — meals, vehicle, home office, retirement contributions, health insurance premiums, and industry-specific deductions.
Estimated Tax Planning
Quarterly estimated payment calculations for the coming year, based on projected income from your current-year return — so you never overpay or underpay.
IRS Representation Included
Because your return is signed by a Federally authorized Enrolled Agent, representation before the IRS is included if the return is ever questioned or audited.
Why Your Business Tax Return Should Be Prepared by a Federally Authorized Enrolled Agent
A general tax preparer can fill out the forms. A Federally authorized Enrolled Agent prepares a return that is defensible — with the knowledge of IRS examination procedures, audit triggers, and documentation requirements that comes from holding the highest credential the IRS issues to a tax professional.
When Simple Books Now prepares your business return, the same professional who reconciled your books and tracked your deductions throughout the year signs the return. There is no handoff, no translation between bookkeeper and preparer, and no risk of a year-end catch-up that misses something.
What Is a Federally Authorized Enrolled Agent? →How Does Year-Round Bookkeeping Make Tax Preparation Better?
Business tax preparation built on disorganized records produces an inaccurate return. Every deduction you miss is real money left on the table. Every error in categorization is a potential audit flag. Simple Books Now reconciles your accounts monthly so the return is a summary of a year of clean work — not a reconstruction of 12 months of receipts in March.

Business Tax Preparation FAQ
What business tax returns does Simple Books Now prepare?
We prepare Schedule C (sole proprietors and single-member LLCs), Form 1065 (partnerships and multi-member LLCs), Form 1120-S (S-Corporations), and Form 1120 (C-Corporations), along with applicable Florida state returns and all required schedules including depreciation and K-1s for owners.
When is my business tax return due?
S-Corps and partnerships file by March 15. Sole proprietors file by April 15 as part of their personal return. C-Corps file by April 15 (for calendar-year corporations). All deadlines can be extended 6 months with a timely extension filing. Luisa prepares extensions automatically for clients who need them.
Should my business be an S-Corp or stay as a sole prop?
At a certain income level — typically $40,000 or more in net self-employment income — an S-Corp election can save you significant self-employment tax by allowing you to pay yourself a reasonable salary and take the remaining profit as a distribution not subject to SE tax. Luisa will run the numbers for your specific situation and give you a clear recommendation, not a general answer.
Do I need to provide anything beyond my books for tax preparation?
If Simple Books Now handles your monthly bookkeeping, we have everything we need. New clients bring prior-year returns, any IRS correspondence, asset purchase records for new equipment, and loan statements. We send a specific checklist so nothing is overlooked.
Can Simple Books Now handle both my business and personal returns?
Yes. For pass-through entities (sole props, S-Corps, partnerships), business income flows to your personal Form 1040. Having the same EA prepare both eliminates the gap between business and personal returns and ensures your overall tax liability is minimized across both filings.
What happens if the IRS questions my return?
Because your return is signed by a Federally authorized Enrolled Agent, Luisa can represent you directly before the IRS. She attends audit meetings, responds to information requests, and negotiates with IRS examiners on your behalf. You do not need to hire a separate representative.
